Liberty Bell

GREETINGS,

Summer is off and running.  We hope you have some interesting flights planned.  Perhaps some of you will check out Oshkosh - the EAA convention.  It's a wonderful world of "aviation".  If you need the charts, we have the route in stock.

General aviation needs each and every pilot to become its advocate.  During the summer we will have free tours of the airport and cheap plane rides.  This is to encourage to public to come to their local airport.  Spread the word, as these are two inexpensive activities that are local and affordable.

PILOT REPORTS
"Weather:  Everybody complains about it, but nobody does anything about it."

Well, you can do something about it.  You can let Flight Watch know when you observe weather that is different than what was forecasted.  Or just let them know what you are seeing and encountering.

The importance of making PIREPS is that it helps everyone involved in moving airplanes in the area.
Your report will:
*Help ATC expedite the flow of airplanes
*Help the FSS give better current weather briefings
*Help the NWS verify and amend their aviation
      forecasts and advisories
*And, it is something for you to do during the cruise (boring)
      portion of your flight.

You can contact EFAS, radio call FLIGHT WATCH, on 122.0 while in flight.  Remember to give them your position in reference to a VOR.  If you are unable to make a PIREP in flight, then call the FSS after landing.  Add your report to your closing your flight plan.

So, the next time the briefer says, " PIREPS would be appreciated", give them one during your flight.

RUNWAY INCURSIONS & TRAFFIC PATTERN PROCEDURES
Chief Pilot - Peter Rafle
It doesn't take a very experienced pilot to see how pilots skirt the procedures of the traffic pattern.  Perhaps you are ready for a refresher to get you out of those habits which might not be the safest.  Sit on the bench and watch - you can see what we mean.

"NO SHOW"

Student scheduling is a topic that needs to be discussed from time to time.  Before scheduling a training period, check your schedule and outside commitments.  Unexpected events do occur that will necessitate canceling or rescheduling a lesson.
That said, try to plan carefully and not too far ahead so that should you need to cancel a lesson, it will not cause a problem for the school.  Notify us WELL in ADVANCE of your lesson that you will not be able to be here.  We can then try to fill in your period with another student for your instructor.

Instructors, like other professionals, value their time and respect your desire to learn to fly.  When a student is a no-show, the bond of mutual respect between the student and instructor is damaged.  Yes, there is a charge for not showing up without proper notice, but being a no-show speaks harshly about the lack of commitment and poor attention to detail so necessary in a safe pilot.

Attention Renters
Effective July 1st, the maximum that we will reimburse you for fuel purchased elsewhere is our retail price.  Some places charge more than a dollar over our rates.

* * * WELCOME NEW STAFF * * *

We welcome two more part time flight instructors who are available for training.  First we welcome Shankar "Shack" Frankenthal, who is a flight attendant for El Al and will be instructing during his lay overs in the US.

Also, welcome to CFI Bob Sidie, who we have known for years.  Bob will be instructing on the weekends.  He is also known as the "heater man" as he manufactures those great heaters for your engines.

We have a lot of change behind the counter with staff moving on.  Please be clear with you name to assure our service to you is appropriate.

WELCOME ALL.
