Summer Activities for Public at Princeton Airport
Airplane Rides & Airport Tours

During the months of July and August, the public is invited to the Princeton Airport for free airport tours on Tuesday mornings and 20˘/pound airplane rides on Sunday afternoons beginning July 6th.  Since 1985 the operators of the airport have opened its doors so visitors young and young-at-heart can see the daily operations of the airfield.  Every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., the public is invited to the airport.  The tours will address the past, present and the future of this airport, which dates back to circa 1911- the early days of aviation.

As a privately owned, public use facility, Princeton Airport provides many services to the Central Jersey area – whether for business purposes or recreational endeavors.  Among the many services that are provided by the airport are flight training for careers, business and/or pleasure in airplanes and helicopters; sales and services of airplanes; helicopter charter; Flightseeing rides; indoor and outside parking of aircraft; and an extensive pilot shop.

The public will view the aircraft based at the field which might include homebuilts, experimentals, aerobatic, and variety of others by walking around the airport and watching the arrivals from other places.  An explanation of the procedures employed by pilots and the airport management will be made to assure the safety record of Princeton Airport.  A visit into the maintenance shop will show the public how and why the aircraft must comply with the stringent Federal Aviation Regulations.  At the end the visitors are welcome to sit in an airplane to understand how the controls work.  The tours take approximately one hour and they are free and open to anyone, including groups.  The first tour will begin on July 8th.

To celebrate the return of good weather Princeton Airport will also offer 20˘/pound airplane rides on Sunday afternoons.  Passengers will have the experience of enjoying the skies in a general aviation airplane and get a “bird’s eye view” of the Princeton area.  “We are sure there are many people who have never had this experience and for a nominal fee, they can see this beautiful area from the sky,” stated Naomi Nierenberg, President of Raritan Valley Flying School.

Each person will weigh in and then pay 20 cents per pound, with a minimum of $10.00 and a maximum cost of $25.00 per person.  Flights will begin at 3:00 p.m. and continue until 6:00 p.m., also during the months of July and August.  The pilots will be flight instructors and/or commercial pilots who work at the Princeton Airport, and they will fly the passengers around the traffic pattern of the airport.  After the weigh-in each person will receive a numbered ticket, so if there is a backup, they can watch the activities of the airport inside the administration building or from the parking lot.

Princeton Airport is open seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day for public to use.   Since both of these activities depend upon good weather, the public may call the airport to ascertain whether the day’s activities will be conducted.

Princeton Airport is located at 41 Airpark Road in Montgomery Township on Route 206, 3.5 miles north of the town of Princeton.  For further information call 609-921-3100 or www: princetonairport.com.
