Welcome to the Instructing Staff: CFI Chuck Taylor is now floating between the front counter and the skies, depending upon the weather.
And a hearty welcome to CFI Karen Kaplan who has returned to RVFS with many hours under her belt. So if any of you are "instructorless", call us and we will assign you.
Welcome Back:
Holiday time brought back "alumni" of former flight instructors who are flying the "big birds"-Chris Chu, Dave Zydiak, and Tom Rooney, It was a step back in time. Then Karen checked out one of her former CFIs in a 172. Paybacks are sweet!
Welcome New Airplane Owner, Greg Howard & your Cessna 172, and Bahmar Barzidah & your Beech Skipper.
Congratulations Peter & Adrianna Erickson on your recent marriage. And to the Shiller family, welcome future pilot, Olivia.

Increased Rate for Instruction:
The CFIs have been doing a great job and we are indebted to them for fulfilling your dreams and our goals. To assure that we maintain this high quality, our rate for instruction will increase January 1st by $2.00.
Fuel Status: First the good news. Princeton Airport complied with the Underground Storage Tank problem five years ago. Thus 39N will be pumping fuel into the 20th century. On November 25 we heard rumblings about a potential avgas problem early in the day. By day's end there were many faxes and phone calls. The problem dates back to fuel delivered in September. Because we had had about four deliveries since that time, and we have filters in the appropriate areas, we were not concerned and we continued flying. This came on Thanksgiving weekend and caused much hub-bub. We have heard little since.
Flight School Schedule: Each time of the day which have benefits and others have drawbacks. 8:00AM is great for vitually no wind, however there can be fog, frost and on occa-sion, snow. Midday has great visi-bility, however winds often kick-up. At sunset the sun is in your eyes, but there is hardly any wind. Whichever time you schedule, we must stick to the scheduled time. If you are at 8AM and the airplane has to be back at 9:30AM - it doesn't matter whether there was fog or frost, the plane MUST be returned.
Princeton Airport's Flying Tigers:
The Tigers ended 98 serving hundreds of children cookies and cocoa for the Santa Fly-In. Special thanks to Pat & Lou Guazelli, Ethel & Gus Dreyhaupt, and Sharon Fink for their unending efforts to assure the event is a success. The first dinner meeting of 99 is:
Wednesday, January 13-7:00pm
Good Time Charley's
Rt. 27, Kingston
Agenda: 1999 Fly-In Schedule
Possible bus trip to the Smithsonian in January or February.
The December Fly-In to Bay Bridge was enjoyed by 12 members & guests. Smooth flight, lunch at Hemingway's and a return flight to the Open House - what more could a pilot ask for?
January Fly-In:

21st Year of "Plane News":
The first issue of this newsletter was written in January, 1978. It was printed on one of those old fashion purple ditto machines, which printed only 100 copies. And we have never missed an issue since. As our customer base grew we typed two dittos. Labels were typed manually and we were excited when we could purchase 4 sheets of labels with carbon paper between. Life was "good".
Then someone donated a mimeo. We really thought that we had arrived. Dick keeps it in "100 hour" to this day. Service personnel from Gestener are in awe when they see it.
Then came computers and bulk mailing. During the month we gather the news. Around the 1st it is delivered to Ed Blaker in South Plainfield, who always has it ready the next day. Back to 39N where we wafer & address label those suckers and get them to the post office. A special thanks to Ed Blaker, John Watson, and Dave Bostain who are always there to assist me with any phase of this newsletter. Thanks guys!
